Finding Your Motivation for Happiness

Finding Your Motivation for Happiness

A good friend of mine recently overcame a long spell of depression. She had lost her job, lost a family member to cancer, had her closest friend move away, was suffering from thinning hair, had gained a few pounds, and found herself desperately wanting a new adventure in life. (Who hasn’t been there before, right?)

So what finally got her out of her slump? “I decided my new adventure wasn’t going to show up on its own. I realized it’s up to me to change my life,” she said.

It’s easy to get discouraged with life. Being an adult is tough. And for those of us who suffer from thinning hair, it might seem especially difficult. But when you start to feel frustrated or get that feeling of hopelessness, you need to find something to motivate you to move forward and take control of your emotions. Here are some things that might motivate you:

  • Decide on a location you’ve always wanted to visit and plan a trip. If it’s an expensive trip, you may need to give yourself a year to save up the money. And find the perfect travel companion. But, with a planned trip in the works, you can push past the negativity you might feel and stay focused on more positive emotions.
  • Get a full makeover. If your sadness seems worse because you don’t like your appearance, do something about it. Go shopping and buy a new outfit that makes you look great. Get a makeover. And order Volluma. Volluma gives the appearance of full, thick hair. For many women, nothing is more motivating than looking good. How can you feel down when you know you look fantastic?
  • Donate your time. When you get up in the morning and spend far too long staring at your thinning hair in the mirror, it’s easy to get caught up in your imperfections. But, if you take the time to serve those who are less fortunate than you, you’ll find you have all kinds of motivation to do more with your life.
  • Revert back to adolescence. Have you ever been in the car when a song from your youth came on? Whether you realized it or not, you probably sat up a little taller, maybe cracked a smile, and sang a few words. Fond memories from our past can do a lot to pick us up and encourage us to move forward. Pull out photo albums or turn on the music and see if it makes you feel better.
  • Learn something new. When you put your effort behind a new skill, knowledge, or ability, you don’t have time to worry about the things that aren’t perfect in your life. If you find yourself preoccupied with a less than perfect hairstyle, maybe it’s time you learned to speak Mandarin. (Or maybe not…but find something that is you are interested in learning.)

We all run into the blues once in a while. Especially when we’re surrounded by gorgeous or amazing people who seem to have it all. But when you find yourself worrying or lamenting over things you don’t have (like a full head of hair), find your motivation and keep moving forward.

By the way, if you’ve noticed that it’s hair troubles that seem to be bringing you down, then it’s time to try Volluma. There’s no need to be discouraged about things that can be fixed or masked. Remember, you have the right to look good and feel great!
