Advice for Men on Hair Loss Issues

My Story

Chris DenisonI started clogging the shower drain when I was 15 and my hair was pretty much gone less than 15 years later. As a teen I avoided high school dances and later spent many evenings out with my buddies holding an empty table while they scattered to check out the ladies. Luckily my sense of humour eventually snagged me a lovely lady but being stranded by my buddies, feeling like the oldest, ugliest guy in the bar is still a painful memory.

My shattered self confidence resulted in me accepting the first job that came my way after graduation, ironically as a bartender and not what studied so hard for. Until I moved on almost 2 years later to start as an hourly paid contractor at the bottom of my profession, I always hated myself for selling out. Had I felt more confident back then, I would never have settled for whatever just came long, I would have been shooting for the stars in my chosen career path. Today I have no idea how far that set me back but believe me when I tell you that I know the pain of hair loss and how shattered confidence can screw things up!

My Mom was determined to help me through my pain and, bless her heart, she returned from the hairdresser one day with a potion that I was to rub into my hair every day. I eventually discovered it was made from some human birth by-product  which, looking back on it seems like rather advanced stem cell stuff but at the time, I thought it was kind of creepy. It left my remaining hair kind of straggly and greasy looking which was tolerable if it was going to actually work, but it never seemed to make a difference.

Please understand that there is no magic bullet to solving men’s hair loss and, despite many claims to the contrary, there are no drugs, potions, techniques or “natural” products that work in every situation all the time and certainly never to the extent of recovering the hair of your youth. Psychologically, the impact of hair loss can be shattering to any man’s social life but especially to the career path of young men at a time in their lives when confidence is king.

The reason I write this blog is to help restore the self confidence of men like myself with thinning hair because regardless of the stage of hair loss we simply need to look good to feel great and when we feel great, life is so much more rewarding.

My intention with the following series of posts is to provide you with easy to implement styling tips to make the best of your thinning hair. Pick the tips and tricks that work for you and situation, you’ll look your best and feel a boost in your self confidence, so please follow along.

Look Good, Feel Great!
